49ers-Chargers game

Last night we got tickets to go to the 49ers-Chargers preseason game at Candlestick stadium. Jake's work bought his ticket for him, and then we just got me one too. Jake and I didn't want to pay for parking, so when we got to the park we drove around to find a place to park. There weren't very many stores around the stadium, just houses. It was really ghetto area, but we found a parking spot on a fairly busy street in the ghetto, so we thought our car would be okay there, so that is where we parked. It wasn't too far of a walk to the stadium. We enjoyed watching the game, but unfortunately the 49ers lost. We left the game a little early because we were worried about our car. I guess we missed all of the action, because the Chargers came back at the very end to win the game. Our car was fine when we got to it. It was fun to watch the game, but would have been more interesting had all of the starters played in the game. If you look close you can see Chandler on #87. That's Jake's Dad's second cousin.

Proposition 8

Every week in church for the past couple months, the letter that the First Presidency wrote about marriage has been read. Recently they have asked for volunteers to help the Yes For Proposition 8 Campaign, so since I don't have a lot to do, and it is a great cause, I decided to volunteer. Proposition 8 is an amendment to the state consititution that will say that California will only recognize marriage as between a man and a woman. A different proposition with the same wording was voted by 61% in 2000 by the people of California, but recently 4 San Francisco judges wrongfully overturned the vote saying it was unconstitutional. Now the people have to vote for an amendment to the state constitution to make gay marriage not legal. These past 2 Saturdays I've gone out in the morning on knocked on doors to see where people stand on this issue. A LOT of people weren't home. I'm amazed though, that people with young children think that it is okay to legalize gay marriage. There are many people out there that don't realize the impact this will have on their lives. Many of the people that are against the proposition think that what homosexuals do is their business and it won't affect them, but it will affect everyone and young as kindergarten. If this proposition is not passed it will be taught in the schools that marriage is a binding agreement between any two people, and that will be taught to children as young as kindergarten. As our children get older, they will be taught in sex education classes that homosexuality is acceptable. These issues are better left to be talked about in the home. Many people against it say that why should our conservative right winged ideas be taught in the school, but why should their liberal left winged ideas be taught? If this proposition is to be rejected in California, it is only a matter of time that gay marriage will be legalized in all states, so this affects everyone, not just people living in California. The church put out a great article talking about our stance on gay marriage and the affects it will have on us and on the country. The Divine Institution of Marriage Article. I wish I could vote in this election in California to be one more vote (two more with Jake's vote) for proposition 8.

Happy 25th!

Yesterday it was Jake's 25th birthday! A few days before we went to a Raiders/49ers game for his birthday. Jake didn't go to work, so we just chilled most of the day. We went shopping for some clothes for him and then he had an appointment to get a deal, so I went with him and then we went to In-N-Out for dinner. We then came home, watched a movie and made a cake for his birthday. I'm so happy I met Jake and got to marry him. He is so wonderful. He makes me laugh all the time, even when I don't want too. He's a wonderful husband and works hard for our family. I love him so much! Happy Birthday, Jake!!!

Battle of the Bay

Yesterday Jake and I went to our very first pro football game ever. The 49ers, which is Jake's favorite NFL team, were playing a preseason game at Oakland, so we decided to get tickets and go to the game. We were cheering for the 49ers, which isn't super safe at Oakland stadium. Raider fans are mean! The stadium is in the GHETTO. I rode the BART down to the stadium and met Jake there because Jake had to work earlier and he was knocking in that area. There weren't as many 49er fans there as I thought there would be because we were close to San Francisco. While it was fun to be at an NFL game, we were kind of sad because the 49ers lost:(

We Have A Cucumber!!

Our garden is starting to produce! We have a cucumber and carrots. The tomatoes and jalepenos are flowering so hopefully they will start producing, too.
