Hogle Zoo

On Tuesday while it Utah we went to Hogle Zoo.  Tean had a fun time seeing all of the animals.  Out of all of the animals he said that the elephants were his favorite.

 Tean never wanted me to take his picture, except when they had one of these.  Then he had to get his picture taken.

 Tean loved watching the otter swim.  He would move from one window to the other as it swam by.

 If you look really close you can see a tiger.  Not that great of a picture since the tiger was lying in the shade.

 We went to a bird show that was pretty cool.  We saw all kinds of birds and a lot of them flew within inches of our heads.

 After watching the bird show we went and saw an elephant show.  Here they have trained the elephant to put her foot through the little door so it can get cleaned.

 As we were leaving, Tean wanted to play with the big legos so a worker there helped him build a turtle.

After the zoo we went to dinner at Alden and Candice's house and then had cake and ice cream for Brenna's birthday at Rett and Susie's house.  Tean loved being able to play with his cousins once again.

Tracy Aviary and More

 We had a busy day on Monday.  We went lots of places.  In the morning we started out going to Mrs. Cavanaugh's Candy tour.  It was pretty cool seeing the stuff, but the best part was sampling the chocolates.  We also got some ice cream while there so we had a sugar overload.

After that we went to the Church History Museum.   Tean thought this boat was pretty cool, but he didn't want his picture taken.

 There was a cool children's part in the Museum.  Tean loved playing with all the stuff.  There were lots of kids there so it was a little crazy and some of the kids were kind of pushy and not very nice, but Tean still had fun.  He got to build

Tean also loved the fishing.  He finally got the hang of it and caught quite a bit of fish.

After the Church History Museum we went to the Beehive House.  I had been there a lot when I was younger because my mom used to be a tour guide there.  I would sometimes go down with her, go on a tour and then go walk around the mall.  Jake had never been there so we decided to go.  It has changed a little bit.  Sister missionaries now give the tours.  I had also told Tean that he would get a piece a candy there and they didn't give one out like they used to.  He was sad about that.

After the Beehive House, we went to Tracy Aviary.  We got in free there with our Pocatello Zoo pass!  You can't really see the birds that Tean is standing in front of, but these Kea birds were pretty cool.  They would pick up bottles in their cage and throw them around and play with them.

Tean liked chasing after the peacock.  While over there Jake and Tean found a trap with a raccoon or some small animal in.

After visiting Tracy Aviary we met some friends in Liberty Park and they were nice enough to let Tean use some of their tickets and ride some rides.

Tean loved riding in the cars, especially the Batman car.

After riding on the rides we went over to the playground.  Tean had fun blowing up this balloon toy and then letting it go.  While we were there a lady came up to us and asked us if we wanted to be interviewed on T.V. for a bottle of cold water.  We said sure.  It was for channel 30 and she asked us what we would do for a Scooby snack.  Before she started filming she asked us if we could name all of the Scooby characters, and we couldn't.  We needed help.  So she told us all of them and then she started filming and we were supposed to name them.  We still got one wrong, but she still gave us the water.

After hanging out with our friends for a bit, we headed back to Layton where we met one of my friends from high school for dinner.  I hadn't seen her since my wedding.  It was nice to catch up and we had a lot of fun.  The restaurant had great food, but was SLOW.  Not really a place to bring kids.  After we were outside chatting and our kids were off playing.  We looked over and her little girl peed her pants a little bit.  After she peed, she bent down to see and kept peeing, filling up her shoe and making a puddle on the ground.  Then she showed it to Tean.  It was pretty funny.

We had a long, enjoyable day together!

Conference Center and Temple Square

After church on Sunday when we were in Utah, we went to the Conference Center and had a tour of it.  I had done a tour once before, but Jake never had.  There was a beautiful chandelier/fountain.  Here is a view from the bottom.

 They had lots of beautiful artwork on display.  They told us that all of the artwork is the original.

 After taking the tour of the Conference Center, we went over to Temple Square.  I had to feed the baby, so while I was doing that Jake took Tean to see the Christus.  Tean thought it was pretty cool.

 After feeding the baby we walked around temple square.  It was HOT and we had to get back to Layton for dinner, but we enjoyed seeing the temple and the beautiful grounds.

After Temple Square we went to Rett and Susie's house and had tin foil dinners.  Tean loved playing with his cousins.  We had a great Sunday visiting with family and enjoying some church sites.

Pocatello Zoo

Yes, you saw that right.  Pocatello does have a zoo.  Not a big one, it doesn't have a lot of animals, but it does have a zoo.

The Saturday before the 4th, we decided to go down to Utah and spend the week in Utah visiting different places and then end the week with my family's "remoonion."  On our way out of town we stopped at the Pocatello Zoo.  It was really hot so we didn't walk around all of it, but we saw a few animals.  It was too hot for the bear, so we didn't get to see that.

Tean liked going to the zoo.  We figured since we have a zoo pass we didn't have to see everything there, so we didn't stay long since it was so HOT!

Friday Night Fun

On the last Friday night in June I got a call from my sister, Milisa, telling me that she was in Lava Hot Springs and wanted to know if we wanted to drive down there to see them for a bit.  So we hopped in the car and went down.  When we got there, we went fishing at a little pond in the campground where Milisa was staying.  Lance and Cayden caught a lot of fish and let Tean and Brody reel them in.  Jake caught a fish and let Tean reel it in, but when we told Tean to back up to pull the fish out of the water he just stood there looking at the fish on his line so the fish wiggled off.  Tean had a great time fishing.  

I didn't have my phone to take pictures at the time, but they caught 5 fish!

Tean wanted to start roasting marshmallows, but there wasn't a hot dog roaster available so he grabbed a stick and stuck a marshmallow on it.

I tried this cool s'more maker.  I didn't really like it.  It burned the graham crackers and didn't melt the chocolate very well.

Tean made this s'more all by himself.  All I did was put the marshmallow on the marshmallow stick then he did the rest.

No babies were hurt taking this picture.  Ziah was actually laughing when Jake was doing this.
